China’s ocean freight network is facing significant disruption following multiple typhoons, with Shanghai and Ningbo terminals suspended, Yantian experiencing gate-in restrictions, and ongoing container shortages and congestion creating further delays.

China’s major ports are experiencing increasing congestion as peak season gets underway, with Shanghai and Ningbo seeing delays of up to 10 days and 5 days respectively. Businesses moving freight from China should plan ahead, allowing additional lead time and submitting bookings and cargo forecasts early to secure capacity and minimise disruption.
