Air Freight Update
22nd July, 2021
The air freight market continues to be challenged by the impacts of Covid-19 with Australian capacity remaining at very low levels compared to pre Covid-19 times. With all major Australian states restricting daily arrival numbers, which can only be returning Australians, the ability to utilise belly space in passenger aircraft is negligible. The flow on effect being that all participants in the air freight market are attempting to secure any space on available freighter services. Whilst there has been an increase in freighter services to Australia there is by no means enough to cover the loss of the passenger aircraft belly space. With Australian borders expected to be closed to International travel through to 2021 the air freight market will remain challenged.
At SCC we have been very loyal to our global air freight partners for many years and the strength of these relationships is proving to be very necessary at this time. On behalf of all of our customers, rates and services are managed daily with the optimum balance of service and rates being provided for each and every consignment.
To ensure that we continue to manage your air freight in the most efficient manner, we ask that you engage SCC at the time of placing your air freight orders with suppliers.
