Typhoon Ragasa to Close Hong Kong and Southern China

Typhoon Ragasa, with winds forecast to reach up to 270 km/h, is set to bring widespread disruption across Hong Kong and Southern China. Airports in Hong Kong and Shenzhen are expected to close shortly, with Hong Kong International Airport already announcing that flight operations will be significantly reduced from 6:00 PM local time today.

In Guangdong, all schools and workplaces have been suspended. Guangzhou has been placed on red alert, with more than 400,000 residents from low-lying areas evacuated. Major ports are also expected to shut down, adding further strain to the existing shipping backlogs in the region.

With the Golden Week holidays imminent, pressure on the supply chain will increase once the typhoon has passed as stakeholders work to clear cargo backlogs. We encourage you to liaise directly with your suppliers to confirm their working arrangements and to stay in close contact with the SCC team for support with your bookings.

We extend our wishes of safety and care to all those affected by this typhoon.
