Prepare Now for the Resumption of Postal Services to the USA

With Australia Post resuming services to the USA from September 25, now is the time to prepare so your cargo clears US Customs without disruption.

Australia Post has partnered with ZONOS, a US-based technology company specialising in cross-border payments. The ZONOS system allows duties and taxes to be calculated, collected, and paid before goods arrive in the USA, ensuring smooth customs clearance and avoiding costly delays.

Step 1: Set up your ZONOS account
We strongly recommend that you establish your own ZONOS account immediately. Create a ZONOS Account Here

Step 2: Link your ZONOS account to your AU Post account
Any shipments not linked will be returned.

Step 3: Ensure shipment data compliance
For every shipment, you must provide the following details:

  • Always declare the true and correct value of the goods
  • Declare the country of origin (e.g. goods manufactured in China must be declared as Chinese origin, even if exported from Australia)
  • Provide HS (tariff) codes for each item being shipped

Important: Your priority is to establish and link your ZONOS account.
