Ongoing Portside Cost Increases

We have been advised by our transport providers that further portside cost increases are scheduled to come into effect from 1 January 2026.

Unfortunately, these ongoing increases imposed by stevedores continue to be non‑negotiable. They have been relentless over recent years and continue to place significant pressure on the wider supply chain, impacting importers, exporters, and the logistics industry as a whole.

In addition to the stevedore increases, we have also been advised that empty container return fees will increase at the same time.

Industry associations have been raising serious concerns with the ACCC and various levels of government regarding these continued cost increases for many years. To date, responses and regulatory outcomes have been limited.

How this appears on your invoices

On our invoices, you will see a charge code listed as Port Infrastructure Fees. This charge represents a consolidation of the various stevedore and empty container return park fees imposed across the supply chain. We consolidate these costs to avoid presenting a long list of individual port-related charges.

Please note that these fees are invoiced directly to our transport providers by stevedores and empty return parks and are passed through as part of all transport-related charges.

Next steps

We are currently working closely with our transport providers to confirm the exact quantum of the upcoming increases. Once this information is finalised, we will communicate the details to all customers at the earliest opportunity.

As always, we appreciate your understanding and continued support as we navigate these industry-wide challenges. If you have any questions or would like to discuss the impact on your shipments, please do not hesitate to contact our team.
